What this is.
This is Gaokao (EN) — the English edition of International Gaokao, an adaptation of China's gaokao that keeps the format, weighting, and pace of the real exam while shifting the content so a native English speaker can actually sit it. A French edition — Gaokao (FR) — is also live. This is a new bank of 1662 gaokao-format questions and 30 articles for people who want the gaokao experience in a language they know. The Chinese original is at Gaokao (CN).
The questions are original — written in the shape and register of gaokao items, adapted so English replaces 语文 (with the same balance of language, reading, and literary canon), French replaces 英语 as the foreign language, and the sciences stay largely as they are. Weighting (150 points for each core subject, ~100 for electives) and per-subject durations mirror the current Chinese gaokao papers. Explanations follow every question in plain language.
Nothing here pretends "English Gaokao" has a long history — it does not. This is a study tool that is a few weeks old. Anything historical you read about (a poet, a formula, an experiment) is real; anything about the exam's tradition or scoring records is not being invented for atmosphere.
