The first sixty are for repair — the specific chapters your diagnostic flagged, in the order that closes the biggest point gaps first.</p><p>The next twenty days are for pattern practice: full sections under time, then targeted drills on the question shapes that ate your minutes. This is when the error log earns its keep.</p><p>The final two weeks are taper. No new material. Old mock papers re-marked. Sleep hits nine hours a night. Mark what you missed in a second colour when you open it again.</p><p>For maths and physics, replace 'write' with 'do': pick one hard problem and solve it without notes. If you can't, that is the diagnostic you needed.</p><p>Do this after every session, not once a week. Under each class, paste one or two representative wrong questions and the fix that made them click.</p><p>Review it not by re-reading, but by covering the answer and re-doing the question. If you get it right cold twice in a row two weeks apart, retire the entry.</p><p>The point of the log is to become smaller over time. Nine hours a night, non-negotiable. This alone is worth several points on paper 1.</p><p>Three days before the exam, stop doing full papers. Examiners read hundreds of essays in a day, and the ones with a clear thesis, three distinct supporting points, and a memorable last sentence stand out without needing to be beautiful.</p><p>Open with a one-sentence thesis in the first paragraph. State the position you are taking. Do not begin with a rhetorical question — every fourth essay begins that way and none of them earn full marks.</p><p>Each body paragraph should have one claim, one strong example (historical, literary, or contemporary — vary these across the three), and one sentence tying the example back to your thesis.</p><p>The closing paragraph is not a summary. It is where the thesis becomes a wider point about society, character, or knowledge. One aphoristic sentence — quoted or your own — then stop.</p><p>Handwriting matters. When you get to a question, jump back to your underlines.</p><p>For questions about tone or authorial stance, answer in the vocabulary the passage itself uses. Examiners look for specific phrases from the text. Paraphrasing loses points even when the paraphrase is correct.</p><p>Never leave a subjective question blank. Practise one of each per day.</p><p>The classic trap in monotonicity questions is forgetting to check the endpoints of the interval and the points where the derivative is undefined. Master six and you have four-fifths of what you need.</p><p>Present tense: rock-solid on the three regular groups (-er, -ir, -re) and the top irregulars (être, avoir, aller, faire, pouvoir, vouloir, devoir, savoir).</p><p>Passé composé versus imparfait: use passé composé for completed actions, imparfait for background states, habits, and descriptions. Practice five paragraph exercises that alternate them.</p><p>Futur simple and conditional share the same stem — memorise the stems for irregular verbs (être → ser-, avoir → aur-, aller → ir-, faire → fer-, savoir → saur-…) and both tenses come for the price of one.</p><p>Subjunctive is triggered — memorise the top ten triggers ('il faut que', 'bien que', 'pour que', 'avant que', 'sans que', verbs of doubt/wish/emotion) and you will produce it in the right places.</p>]]></content:encoded>

From these, most inclined-plane problems reduce to F = ma along the incline.</p><p>For two masses connected by a rope over a pulley, the constraint is that both acceleration magnitudes are equal (assuming inextensible rope and frictionless pulley). Write one Newton's-second-law equation for each mass.</p><p>Sanity check: does your acceleration point in the physically sensible direction? Do them in order and mistakes become rare.</p><p>Step one: work out the molar mass of every substance in your calculation. Add up the atomic masses from the periodic table. Sanity-check: CO₂ is 44, water is 18 — if your molar masses drift into odd territory, something is off.</p><p>Step two: convert grams to moles (n = m / M) or volume of gas at STP to moles (n = V / 22.4 L·mol⁻¹).</p><p>Step three: use the mole ratio from the balanced equation to find moles of the other substances. Only then convert back to whatever units the question asks for.</p><p>The wrong shortcut is trying to work in grams throughout. Memorise this.</p><p>Dihybrid: AaBb × AaBb gives 9 A_B_ : 3 A_bb : 3 aaB_ : 1 aabb — the famous 9 : 3 : 3 : 1, from two genes assorting independently.</p><p>Test cross: an unknown-genotype dominant crossed with a homozygous recessive. If any recessive offspring appear, the unknown is heterozygous.</p><p>X-linked recessive traits appear more often in males. If a trait skips a generation and appears in a grandson but not the mother, X-linked recessive is very likely.</p><p>Always write out the parental genotypes explicitly before drawing the Punnett square. Arrive at least forty-five minutes before each session.</p><p>Phones are not permitted in the exam room. Not switched off in your bag — at all. Detection is by walk-through metal detectors and hand-held wands. A simple watch is allowed; nothing with smart features.</p><p>You will be checked against an admission ticket and your national identity document at the door. Losing either means a same-morning phone call for backups. Do not rely on the centre keeping spares.</p><p>The room is silent to a degree most students have never experienced. Practice mock papers under conditions this strict.</p><p>You may not leave the room in the last thirty minutes of any session. Plan bathroom breaks. When the bell rings, you stop writing — no discretion for the last extra sentence.</p><p>After each session, walk out and, ideally, do not discuss the paper with anyone. Anything outside the box is invisible to the grader.</p><p>You may not use correction fluid or tape on the answer sheet. If you make a mistake, cross it out cleanly and rewrite. Do not scribble.</p><p>Leave the last five minutes of each subject strictly for transferring answers from the question booklet to the answer sheet if you have been working on scratch. A tired brain encodes less, retrieves less, and produces more careless mistakes on timed papers.</p><p>Aim for at least seven hours a night through most of the year and at least eight in the last month. If your schedule cannot accommodate that, cut something else, not sleep.</p><p>The exception is not 'the night before an important test'. That is exactly the night sleep matters most. A well-rested student outperforms a slightly-better-prepared exhausted one on almost every measurable dimension of exam performance.</p><p>Naps of 20–30 minutes in the afternoon are a real study tool, not a luxury. They restore attention and consolidate what you learned in the morning.</p><p>Coffee helps for two hours and hurts for eight. Time it deliberately. No coffee after 2 p.m. in the last month if you value your sleep.</p>]]></content:encoded>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the first ten minutes of the first paper you will feel your heart rate spike. Your hands may shake. This is a normal stress response and it will pass. Your job is to have a plan for what to do while it passes.</p><p>Do not open the paper immediately. Take three deep breaths — four seconds in, six seconds out — before you turn to page one. That buys you thirty seconds and calms your system.</p><p>Start with a question you know you can do. Not necessarily question one. Skim the paper for a friendly one and start there. Confidence unlocks the rest.</p><p>If you get stuck on a question, put a small dot next to it and move on. Come back after you have finished the rest. Sitting stuck loses points on questions you could otherwise get.</p><p>If a wave of panic hits mid-paper, put your pen down for ten seconds, breathe, and re-read the last sentence you wrote.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After the results are released — typically a few weeks after the exam — you have a short window to lock in your ranked list of universities and courses. This is when the actual decision about where you spend the next three or four years gets made.</p><p>The dominant application format is a ranked list: you rank a handful of universities in order of preference and the system slots you into the highest-ranked one that will admit you at your grade.</p><p>The classic strategy is reach / target / safety. A couple of reach schools whose historical cutoff is slightly above your score. Several target schools where you are safely admissible. A few safeties clearly below your score.</p><p>Look at historical cutoff scores for the past three years, not just last year. Cutoffs bounce. A one-year dip does not make a school a safety.</p><p>Read the course description carefully. A university you can get into does not guarantee the specific course you want in that university — many courses have their own tighter cutoffs.</p><p>Do not choose a course only because its cutoff is high. High cutoff often means everyone else also thought it was prestigious, not that the programme is best for you.</p>]]></content:encoded>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The classic Pomodoro — twenty-five minutes on, five off — was written for office work with lots of small tasks. Exam prep is the opposite: long, hard sessions where you are trying to hold a whole problem in your head.</p><p>Move the base unit to fifty minutes on, ten off, and keep the phone in another room during the fifty. The break is not for scrolling. Stand up, drink water, look at something twenty metres away.</p><p>After three cycles, take a longer break — thirty minutes, ideally outside. This is the part everyone skips and it is the part that keeps you honest for six hours instead of two.</p><p>One useful modification for maths and physics: if you are mid-problem when the timer goes off, finish the problem. Your score is within a predictable band.</p><p>If every mock produces a huge emotional swing, something is off. Either the mocks are wildly different in difficulty, or you are treating each one as a referendum on your entire future.</p><p>The individual score does not matter. The trend across five mocks matters. Track it. If it is flat, look at what you are doing between mocks and change one thing.</p><p>One useful trick: after each mock, write down the one specific thing you will do differently on the next one. You need to train the exact conditions or you are practising a different sport.</p><p>Once a week, sit a full past paper with a real clock, no phone, no snacks, no bathroom breaks except at the halfway mark. Mark it the next day, coldly.</p><p>The first few times you do this you will be shocked at how much slower you are than in casual practice. This is the useful shock. It is far better to feel it in April than in June.</p><p>Track two numbers over the term: total score, and time spent on the section that gave you the most trouble. The exam has a fixed number of points and some of them are five-hour problems worth two marks.</p><p>Before spending another week on a topic you keep failing, compute the ratio: how many points does this topic represent on the exam, and how many hours would getting good at it take you? If the answer is 'four points and thirty hours', bank the four and move on.</p><p>This is not the same as giving up. It is deciding that your time is finite and there is a physics chapter next door where the same thirty hours might buy you fifteen points.</p><p>The rule works in both directions: sometimes a small topic you have written off is worth revisiting because you finally have the base to understand it.</p>]]></content:encoded>

A single fourteen-line poem can carry as many marks as a full page of prose analysis.</p><p>Read the poem twice cold before looking at the questions. First pass: for sense. Second pass: mark rhyme, metre, and any repeated words.</p><p>For a form question, identify the metre by counting stresses in the first line. Recognise which move the question is asking for and the problem shrinks.</p><p>The first move is always to write the curve in standard form: x²/a² + y²/b² = 1 for an ellipse, x²/a² − y²/b² = 1 for a hyperbola. Identify a, b, and c. Half the work of most problems is done here.</p><p>For chord-length problems, substitute the line into the curve, use Vieta's formulas for x₁+x₂ and x₁x₂, then apply |AB| = √(1+k²) · |x₁ − x₂|. This template solves an enormous fraction of the questions on this topic.</p><p>For focus-related questions, the definition (sum or difference of distances to the two foci) is often faster than coordinate bashing. Under the surface of grade demands, most parents want their child to have more options than they had. The demand is instrumental — the underlying goal is not a specific score.</p><p>It also helps to name the pressure once explicitly. A calm conversation early in the year — 'I know you're worried, I'm working as hard as I can, I need you to trust me' — often reduces the daily friction more than any tactic.</p><p>Try not to argue about grades in the hour after a mock exam result. The emotional charge on both sides is too high. Sleep, then talk the next day.</p><p>If the pressure crosses into something you cannot cope with — sleeplessness, panic attacks, an inability to work — reach out. That is normal.</p><p>Freshers' week is a strange, packed period. Do not sign up for every club that has a table. Pick two — one that matches an existing interest, one that scares you a little — and let the rest wait until the second term.</p><p>Roommates are assigned, not chosen. Kindness in the first week pays enormous dividends across the year. So does not judging anyone's home region.</p><p>The academic pace is looser than the final year of school, but the reading load in humanities and the problem sets in engineering catch up with students who mistake looseness for lack of demand. Do the first month's work in the first month.</p><p>Homesickness is real and it usually peaks around week three. Call home more than you think you need to. It helps them and it helps you.</p><p>You are through the exam. The rest of your life is not an exam. Try to remember that.</p>]]></content:encoded>
